Lawson explains that there is no diet that is proven to cure or prevent fibromyalgia, but there are certain foods which can exacerbate symptoms and increase flare frequency. Among other things, she advises patients to avoid food products which contain cytotoxins as they are known to stimulate pain receptors. Cytotoxins can be found in artificial sweeteners and many types of lunch meats.
